Boat to Rurrenabaque 4d/3n
1. We are specialised Operators in the Jungle
In Deep Rainforest we know that the people working for us should know very well the area they work in.
In the range of 21 years as guides we had the possibility to explore 90% of the rivers in Bolivia. In Deep Rainforest we like what we do and that’s why we want you to enjoy it with us.
2. Local Bolivian Guides guiding foreigners. Interpreters provided if needed
Our local guides speak Spanish and have a lot of experience in the Amazon Rainforest.
In Deep Rainforest we know that guiding is not just showing the way, the guide should know very well the area, the surroundings, also must be friendly and always be able to be talkative with the group. You will feel like family and safe in good hands and be sure that communication will not ever be a problem.
3. Experienced boat conductors
Our local boat conductors were born in the area. On the boat you will see that a helper will be almost always at the point of the boat to tell the motorist wich way to go, it is a team work. They were chosen among many people from the area to take you into the Amazon.
4. Comfortable boats
Our boats are 16 m long and are big enough for big groups. If we used our boats for local transport, we could take even 45 people + their chickens, dogs and children.
During the tour we won’t take more than 10 tourists comfortably seated + our staff.
5. Reliability at the time of Booking
You can trust on the day of departure. Once we confirm to you the departure, the tour will leave YES or YES. Bus back to La Paz is included. We can also make reservations for you to fly back from Rurre.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THIS SECTION AS THIS INFORMATION CAN BE A STRONG DECISION FACTOR FOR BOOKING THIS TOUR
We’re reverting to the Original Service (transport by public bus) on 1st day.
ON THIS SECOND HALF OF 2024 WE HAVE HEARD OUR CLIENTS, MANY OF THEM SAID THAT THE FIRST DAY ON THE BUS WAS BAD, LONG OR JUST HORRIBLE. (May/2024)
As a result of a Trip Advisor review of May/2024 and personal feedback of our clients, we decided to follow their recommendations and we inserted the service of taxis (small cars for 6 people) on the first day of transport instead of the public Bus.
So we made a change to improve the service on the first day, we changed the bus for a Taxi collective, (small car that takes 6 passengers) but after testing it thoroughly, we realized that the amendment didn’t work as well as we expected. In fact, it was performing worse than the bus option, which is never what we want for our customers.
HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED:
- Unexpected Issues: While the amendment was intended to enhance the service, we encountered some unexpected issues that would have negatively impacted your experience like:
- drivers going too fast,
- squeezed passengers at high temperatures inside the car,
- no possibility at all to stretch legs or the back that made our clients end knocked out and in a total bad mood.
YOUR EXPERIENCE MATTERS
We believe in providing only the best, so rather than moving forward with this uncomfy change, we’ve decided to revert to the original version which is going by bus because at least you can stand up and stretch your legs whenever you want and keep windows open.
Our top priority is ensuring that the service runs smoothly for you according to what’s been promised. We don’t want to risk any disruptions or problems with a version that isn’t performing as intended. By going back to the original, we’re maintaining the reliability and accessibility that you expect.
Our goal is to ensure you always get the best experience, and sometimes that means recognizing when a change doesn’t work and taking action to protect your experience.
SO WHY WE TAKE THIS LESS-THAN-IDEAL TRANSPORT TO REACH THIS NON VISITED AREA OF
MADIDI NATIONAL PARK?
As you may know all travel books and travel platforms will say that in order to see-visit the Rainforest of Madidi National Park (Amazon Rainforest) you have to go from La Paz to Rurrenabaque first. Rurre is a small contact-village for tourists situated near the edge of Madidi. It is from Rurrenabaque that most of the tours to Madidi start and after 30 min of Boat trip allows you to enter the Park. The furthest you will get into the park is about an hour to appreciate its Rainforest. Most of the operators in Rurre not even enter the park, they will only arrange a visit of the Rainforest at the edge of the park, never entering it.
Our tour is totally the opposite, we enter the park from an area no other Tour Operator does and on our tour you will really see a huge pristine part of the park, believe it or not!
So sometimes the most beautiful places, usually the most of them, breath-taking destinations are a bit harder to get to, Don’t you think so?
Whether it’s because they are remote, surrounded by nature, or simply not easily accessible by regular means, getting there can involve transport that may not be as comfortable as we would like.
HERE WE GIVE YOU 4 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD ENDURE THE BAD TRASNPORTATION ON THE FIRST DAY
- REMOTE LOCATIONS ONLY SEEN BY YOU
The starting point is a remote Village by the river where the only industry is Gold mining so it isn’t connected by a smooth road, only the first 5 hours is on a paved road and the last lap is the one which is tough. As we just can’t use our private transport because locals have forbidden us to use it and we have to share part of the business, the agreement between us and them is to use their transport. That is why we use the public bus as a mean of transport to get there.. As being a remote location, it really lacks infrastructure but next day will be totally rewarding when you walk in the Upper Primary Rainforest full of trees that produce rubber and a paradisiacal water fall. Only our customers visit that waterfall.
- THE JOURNEY AS PART OF THE ADVENTURE
Though the transport might be challenging, sometimes the journey itself can be part of the experience. Whether it’s a bumpy ride on its last lap, through rugged landscapes or hot inside, these moments can make the destination feel even more special once you arrive.
- EXCLUSIVE ACCESS
To Jungle Canyons, waterfalls and pristine Rainforest: Because it’s harder to reach, fewer people visit these places and not all the tour operators go that far. We are actually the only ones! It is only one day versus 3 days of an unspoiled, beautiful destination that remains relatively undiscovered.
- WORTH THE EFFORT
While the transport might not be perfect on 1st day, the reward on the next 3 days is worth it. The stunning scenery, unique experiences, and peaceful surroundings make any temporary discomfort fade away once you start the 2nd day on our boat.
Besides all of what has been explained above, we have to say that accommodation on this day of transport will be the most basic you have ever had.
Sometimes, reaching the most beautiful places requires a little extra effort and a bit of mental patience. We strongly believe the destination will more than make up for it!
2nd Day
09:00 a.m.
Remember that on this day you will be able to get bottled water, there are many shops close to the hostel.
Our boat 16m long can hold 45 people. For the Tour we will only take 10 tourist max + the staff from the Company. There is plenty of space for your luggage so you can bring everything with you. Once everybody has taken a seat, we’ll start going downstream. We will cover 250 K in 3 days on the boat!
10:30 a.m.
You must bring sandals, flip flops to cross the streams. It is time for our first walk in the upper Rainforest. This walk leads us to a paradisiacal Waterfall.
By the time we come back to the River lunch will be ready. Lunch will be served on the boat and now we will go down stream for 4-5 hours.
We will camp at one of the isolated beaches we have along the river (dry season April-early Dec) or at one of the communities (wet season Dec-early April). This is going to be the best camping of your lives, no doubt. The guide will decide where to camp as it depends on different factors. Which ever beach the guide chooses it will be for sure an amazing place.
Every night you will have the chance to enjoy a camp fire in the middle of nowhere surrounded by beautiful nature.(This activity not available during wet season Jan-March).
Personal mosquito nets, foam mattress and sleeping bag are provided by the Company.
3rd Day
Around 08:00 a.m. we’ll get on the boat again to go downstream for about 4 hrs. We will pass through several exuberant Jungle canyons on the way, dated from the times that the Amazon Basin was formed and of course superb Rainforest.
Your luggage will be protected with a huge plastic.
We will slow down the velocity when passing the canyons so that you can admire them.
12:00 a.m.
Now is time to get off the boat for another walk in the Rainforest. Our Guides will explain about the Jungle so that you can admire the Rainforest properly.
Macaws are frequently seen close to the Clay Cliffs or across the sky.
We will camp very close to Rurrenabaque.
4th day
After midday, around 14:00, when we see in the distance, in the background a range with a particular mountain with the half hole at the top, is when we know that we’re close to Rurre.
By then you will be thinking seriously about recommending this tour to your friends. Guaranteed!
Happy end after 4 unforgettable days. We will arrive in Rurre close to 14:00.
Arrive in Rurre 2 to 3 p.m.
Once at the River banks, the guide will walk you to a hostel where you can get free wifi, hummocks, showers, swimming pool until it is time to go to the Bus Terminal. You can also get a cold beer or drinks (not included). Room not included either.
We will send to your whatsapp the bus ticket to come back to La Paz.
Clients must organise transfer to the bus terminal on their own.
19:00 (maybe later) Bus to La Paz. You can leave the hostel for the Bus Terminal 30 min before departure as it is just 10 min away. It is very easy to get a taxi (motor bikes) outside the hostel or ask the receptionist to call a taxi for you.
Note that upon arrival in Rurrenabaque, if you decide to stay longer in Rurre, you will lose the bus ticket back to La Paz, no chance to change the bus tickets with last minute notice. Al though if you tell us about it before booking the tour, we can organise your bus ticket for whenever you want.
