Sorata – Lakhatya 6 days
(Good for climbing Illampu 6369m)
Illampu mountain is very well know as a hard & difficult mountain to climb 6369 m . jIf you are not fit you must add one or two extra days above 3500 m either in a City or doing a Trek. Ask about it in order to extend your acclimatising trek before Illampu.
1st day.- 06:00 pick up from the Hotel. Transfer to the Bus Stop is included!
07:00 Bus to Sorata 2670m It is a beautiful bus ride because you will see all the time the Andes Range, where you will be walking for the next days . After crossing a high pass we get into the Sorata Valley It is indeed a beautiful bus ride to the starting point.
12.00 Arrive in Sorata. Lunch and free afternoon to enjoy one of the most beautiful villages in Bolivia.
2nd day.- 10.00 SORATA – Before ABRA ILLAMPU
From 9 to 10 in the morning our staff will load luggage, We will take a path that will lead us to the impressive pass “Abra Illampu”. Since this is an acclimatising Trek we will walk up to the camping site before the pass. you’ll enjoy of different views of the Valley of Sorata. Our pace will be really slow so that you will get used to the altitude easily.
5-7 hrs slow walk.
3rd day.-Our way up to the pass will be a test for our hearts, however we will take double the time we normally use to make it to the highest point. Views from “Abra Illampu” are amazing. After having lunch at the top, we will drop down to our next campsite near Estancia Utaña Pampa. 5-7 hrs slow walk.
4th day.- On this day we will have another pass which will seem definitely easier than the
previous one because you will be more used to the altitude. We will camp just after the pass near Lakhatya. 5-7 hrs slow walk
5th day.-LAKHATIYA – CHILATA SORATA
Those who have chosen the Combo with Illampu Mountain after a couple of hours will take a side path that will take them straight to Chilata Lagoon, which will be their starting point to trek up to Base Camp on the fifth day. 5-7 hrs walk
LAKHATIYA – SORATA
Those who have just chosen the Trek will head straight down to Sorata 5-7 hrs walk
If the pace of the entire group is good enough, you can take the last bus to La Paz (subject to availability) at 17:00
6th day.- Our guide will arrange your tickets for one of the buses you choose between 05:00 in the morning and 17.00 in the afternoon.
*Times for departures, meals and activities may vary as they depend on different factors. The guide will tell the group every morning about the day programme.
With 4 days notice.
18 people max. 01 min. per group.(1 guide every 6 people)
5 nights accommodation in tents, camping mattress, local guide, meals 4 B – 4 L – 4 D, As you know we don’t charge for 1st and 6th days.
mules 15 kgs weight limit per person.
*Walking sticks, purification pills, *sleeping bag, water, *water bottle, drinks, cigarettes, snacks, entrance fee-50 Bs, tips.
*Some items not included can be rented from our company.
AVAILABLE: English Speaking guide or translator (additional 50 usd to be paid by the whole group, not per person) when ever we have one request for English Speaking guide or translator, the rest of the group will pay for it.
PORTERS, MULES, DONKEYS?
If you have more luggage than our weight limit (10 kg), you will have to hire another mule at an extra cost. Extra pack animal 15 usd per day
Our guide is the cook at the same time
Big meals are breakfast and dinner. We provide massive sandwiches for lunch though.
Veggie food is a step better than basic.
You must bring all of what you can for the entire programme.
